This is not grunge to me.
This sounds like about as grunge as stone temple pilots and pearl jam ..

Your absolutely right! I was at some of those early Metallica shows in the Bay area around
'83 and later in '84 and that's what it was all about. "F the poser crap, we hate 'em". lol Grunge definitely came across very real without all the Hollywood hype. We could relate here in Nor Cal.

Agreed. But grunge and metal were a response to glam metal. In fact in early concerts Metallica that was very explicit!

Great points. I couldn't wait for the Ratts and Poisons to go away. However, I don't feel Grunge and the metal scene was a response to it. The Seattle scene has been around forever and has always been honest and real music. It was just waiting to come out when people finally were done with being saturated with the poser LA crap music. I don't think kids today really understood how the underground music of the '80's was going to be the future.

Then they all OD'd on heroin. The End.
Not that I like him (or his music), but at least Bret Michaels was smart enough to stay alive.

Mike Patton can sound like anything everything, that's why nearly every decent rock singer since 1990 has named him as an influence. Grunge didn't evolve from hair/glam metal, it was a response to it. Much in the way Metallica and Slayer came around from disgust of the glam metal scene, early Seattle grunge bands wanted to focus on "rocking out" instead of stage antics and billboard hits. Oh, and Ratt is a piece of shit.

Take into account Green River, Malfunkshun. These people were playing well before that time and were famous enough locally to believe that Axl, as a Tower Records employee in LA, heard what was going on in the great northwest and decided to lay something heavier on top of his L.A. Guns type business...just a theory. Appetite for Destruction came out in 87? Seattle had already killed LA by then. I remember a ton of L.A. guys who were coming up to Seattle to learn how "not" to sound like poison.

unless im wrong mother love bone started out in 1988 and released their first and only album in 1990 while guns n roses formed as early as 1985 with their first album out in 1987. AS for mike patton he can sing several styles of music but he also released an album a year before these guys with faith no more as well so mother bone sound like guns n roses and andrew wood sounds like mike patton.

Anybody notice that Mike Patton sounds like Andrew Wood? Anybody notice that Guns N' Roses sounds like Mother Love Bone? Anybody notice that Ratt can lick my turd factory? Seattle crushes you all forever (Ancient Chinese secret). I mean there is Robert Pland and Andrew Wood...and then there is everybody else.
