(I'm a doll of wax, a doll of sound, my heart is engraved into my songs) It was Serge Gainsbourg who wrote it,who was pretty fond of his double meanings. Despite "poupee de son" normally meaning doll of bran or woodshavings (how the dolls were manufactured), for this song there is the obvious connotation of Doll of Sound, like those pull string dolls.

Though the song is about a "songdoll" it's kinda a dig at how teenagers look to their teen idols to tell them about emotions, but that they've never felt them themselves. It's also saying France was a doll that was controlled by the music industry, or Serge.

En passant je ne dénigre pas le band, je répètes qu'ils sont ds mon top 5 à vie. Ils sont libre de faire ce qu'il veule et de ne pas tenir compte des critiques.
