Farmers in the United States say they are growing increasingly concerned about a mysterious shortage of honeybees. The U.S. government says it is investigating a dramatic decline in the bee population over recent months, and Congress has held a hearing on the issue.

Imidacloprid is marketed under many other pesticides used for crop spray ... Especially when they're investing milions of dollars in patented seeds and plants?     January 8th, 2009 at 15:30:08 LOOK AROUND When I grew up there were tons of purple flower clover and dandelions in the yard. Today it's all gone. Last year my daughter brought me a two headed dandelion. Little did I know that was the last I would ever see. Today, I found a two headed mutant purple clover. Just one, mutant clover left in the whole yard. Many other bug species have also disappeared... What are the bees supposed to eat when all the natural weeds are gone? Not just my yard but everywhere! Thank MONSANTO & Bayer

China did some millarty test with bio weapons. One was a virus that kiss all bees. This Virus has been found in all royal jelly being shiped from china to US,UK,Eurpo. All Queen bees where infected as well. Strange that... Odd even, its just an amazing occuance I am sure. No one would kill all the bees then Monopolise the world market in resistant bees would they?

If you live in a wealthier nation you may not notice a shortage yet, key word here being yet, but you will. Right now the price of food is skyrocketing on a global scale, and that is the first step.

    January 8th, 2009 at 20:51:54 I say the culprit is a nicotene pesticide that is used all over the world. It is safe for me and you and our pets but it is toxic to bugs including the bees. This pesticide is causing the bees immune system to die making them vulnerable to contagious diseases. It is unfortunate that the company that makes this pesticide is a big one. They wouldn't stop producing it even if the lack of bees began to affect them. Big compannies have more power in the government than Congress and the voters.

    January 8th, 2009 at 21:37:52 GM crops are contaminating the natural versions of the plants that the earth has developed over millions of years; the bees have perhaps been here as long. If we change the substance of the food that bees eat will they get the nutrition they need to survive? I think that GM foods are the culprit and the companies which produce these crops will soon be selling farmer's gene altered bees. Companies like Bayer, and Monsanto have too much power in the congressional lobbies, they need to be stopped.
